The LTC7860EMSE#PBF is a high efficiency surge stopper that provides protection for loads from high voltage transients. With its ability to handle higher currents and smaller solution sizes, this product is an ideal choice for applications where space is limited. In the event of an input overvoltage, such as a load dump in vehicles, the LTC7860 controls the gate of an external MOSFET to act as a switching DC/DC regulator, ensuring that the output voltage is regulated to a safe level, allowing the loads to continue operating without any issues. Additionally, during normal operation, the LTC7860 operates in SWITCH-ON mode, continuously turning on the external MOSFET to pass the input voltage through to the output. An internal comparator further adds to the product’s reliability by limiting the voltage across the current sense resistor and regulating the maximum output current to protect against overcurrent faults
